We decided to head up SevenMile Rd which is about 40 miles up Highway 14 out of Fort Collins.  Jake who is a member of the club came with his 3 friends from Cheyene, WY.  They are all in the Air Force and were lucky enough to get a Wednesday off!  Maybe I'm lucky too :)

My good buddy Kevin Calder tagged along with his awesome Honda ATV 4x4 with winch!

SevenMile is actually only 5 miles long so I don't know the meaning behind the name.  It is only rated a 5 out of 10 so overall it was an easy trail.  BUT...add some ice, snow, and a foot of water and you have a lot of fun!  We crossed the river about 6 times and one of the crossings we broke though the ice and had a good foot of water to play in.

One of the guys completely closed his tail pipe coming off a ledge.  Maybe those aren't a good idea! We all had a blast including Kevin who got pretty crazy with his ATV!

Thank goodness Kevin wasn't hurt at all.  Helmets are a good thing!!

At the end of the trail we had some fun in the snow.  There were several spots where I got stuck and managed to get out.  We even had Kevin's ATV winch Jakes front end back on the road after it slipped off.  And I got to winch his rear end back on the trail.

SevenMile offers a lot of difficult spur roads some of which we didn't even try.  I for one would love to come back with chains and conquer the Winter Hill Challenge Road which is one of the side trails maintained by the Mountaineers. (near the end of sevenmile)

Thanks to Jake for planning such a great ride.
